Marinated Shrimp
This is an old family recipe that goes back as far as I can remember. In the old days we used fresh bay shrimp rather than store bought, and cayenne pepper was considered a foreign spice so we used Tabasco. enjoy.
5lb head off shrimp (31-35 count)
2 Cups Wesson Oil
2 Cups Cider Vinegar
1 Red onion sliced thinly
1 large sweet onion sliced thinly
1 bottle capers
8 Bay leaves
8 cloves garlic sliced
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons salt
2 Tablespoons Parsley
2 tablespoons oregano
Peel shrimp and boil just long enough to cook throughout. (2 to 3 minutes). Cool shrimp with ice to stop cooking process and drain. Mix all other ingredients, add shrimp and refrigerate for at least 24 hours stirring periodically. (This works well in 1 gallon zip lock bag). Drain and serve.
